Swedish Bridge Festival 2024

Welcome to the Swedish Bridge Festival in Örebro, Friday 26 July to 4 August 2024.

Just like before, our flagship team event, the “Chairman’s Cup” starts in the first week-end of our Bridge Festival. The “CC” is a tournament played first as a two-day Swiss, then in a four-day KO format. In 2023 roughly 130 teams participated, and please note that the “CC” is now part of the WBF World Bridge Tour!

At the end, the Bridge Festival concludes with the very popular “Gold Mine”, a pairs tournament with a qualifying session leading to group finals with prizes in every group!

But there is lots of bridge every day in addition to the above-mentioned “flagships”: every day (except Friday 26 July and Sunday 4 August) there are four drop-in side tournaments catering to all tastes: morning, afternoon and evening – and there are cash prizes and master points in them all!

Örebro is a very beautiful city in mid-Sweden with very good connections by train or bus. Please see below for some travel information, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions on this!

Travel information:

Örebro is located some 200 kilometers west of Stockholm, 300 kms north-east of Gothenburg and 500 kms north of Malmö/Copenhagen. There are excellent train connections between all of these cities, and from Stockholm there are also good direct buses.

Travelling to Sweden is easy, and you have a great pick of options.

  • If train is your choice, you can either book a trip all the way to Örebro if possible, otherwise we advise you to go to www.sj.se to book all travel within Sweden (including from/to Copenhagen and Oslo).

  • Flying also offers good options: Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen offer the most transfer connection to Örebro – and if you hesitate between those cities we would advise Stockholm (and Arlanda airport) since connections, both train and bus, are the best. There are sometimes seasonal low-cost flights to Västerås (e.g. Ryanair), and that airport also has good connections with Örebro by bus.

  • If going by car, parking in central Örebro can be costly, but there are sites with discounted parking not far away from the venue – unless you can manage parking at the place where you stay.
