As you probably understand, my writings here are not very serious. I don’t hate the Skalman’s and I don’t think people from Stockholm have an IQ of zero. Talking about big cities, you may wonder why we have no team from Gothenburg in the tournament. I have heard that the explanation is that the tournament is very international. We have players from around the world, USA, Denmark, and even Halland! When we looked for a team from Gothenburg, they couldn’t find four players that could speak English. It may be only a fairytale, but it sounds logical to me as my wife is from that city.

In Fredin’s tournament, you find many good Swedish teams and one Danish team where our neighbors have assembled all the best of their players. Lucky for us, though, they are not allowed to be more than four players each half.

Tonight we are facing the strong Danes, and our reporter found out that they stayed up for most of the night, discussing system and preparing for the match (click to watch the video!)

The day before yesterday, we played against Jonas Pettersson and Jan Selberg in the Skalman team. If you know Jan, you must agree with me: he looks very honest and if he were selling used cars, you would buy one without hesitation. Luckily, I already have a car, though, as it turns out that he has been hiding his real personality from me all these years. Look what he did to me here:

Jonas’ 2NT showed support, and Jan’s 3S showed a singleton in diamonds. In BBO, you alert your own bids, so it was not any mistaken explanation Wondering Perhaps, on his computer, the diamonds and hearts were alike or exchanged? I don’t think so. He is just not as honest as his looks, and don’t say I didn’t warn you! Already when he showed that singleton, I thought something bad was going to happen. Having AKQ in diamonds would ensure that Jonas had a good fit. Björn doubled a cue-bid in hearts, and I regained some hope, but they bid the slam anyway.

Well, as you have guessed, I led the Ace of diamonds and did not even consider playing another one. The slam was made. And what to do, except to congratulate to a nice bid and make a note in the little black book: Don’t ever trust that man again. Giggle
